In 1996, Village View Church began as a dream. Hearts of the leaders in church planting for the Church of God in the state of Florida envisioned carrying God's message of hope to people in The Villages, a retirement community and the surrounding tri-county area of Lake, Sumter, and Marion counties. The dream grew as committed Christians gathered in a local home to begin a body of believers that quickly outgrew the home and moved to the Spruce Creek Professional Plaza.  The young congregation voted to adopt the Purpose Driven Church Model for Church Planting and continued to grow over the next three years until about 42 families were able to purchase 10 acres of land and begin constructing a church building of their own.

This group of 82 believers moved into the Harbour View Elementary School on SE 147th Place and immediately grew to over 100 people in attendance. While at the school the church grew to a solid core of 137 people. The church moved into the first phase of their present facilities on Christmas of 2004. The church doubled in size immediately and continued to grow steadily.

The church purchased the adjoining 10 acres giving Village View a total of 20 acres. In 2006 the church added an additional 14,000 square feet of educational space for children, youth, and adults. Also included was a 3,000 square foot atrium with a café and bookstore.  Village View Christian Academy Daycare and Preschool opened its doors in 2009 and currently has a waiting list.  The elementary grades of the Academy begin Fall of 2011 with the addition of Kindergarten.  Plans are to add at least one grade per year to the Academy until it reaches grade twelve.  Plans are to expand the current sanctuary to seating for 1,000, and to add an educational wing of classrooms.

Currently, God has continued the growth to over 2,100 in average attendance in five weekend services.  We encourage you to become a part of the exciting things that God is doing in and through Village View Community Church. There are over 300,000 people within a 15 mile radius of Village View Community Church, and every one of these people need to know the peace and joy that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Village View Community Church is committed to doing whatever is necessary to reach every person with God's Good News and building believers on their spiritual journey.
